Daily Color: "The flowers of late winter and early spring occupy places in our hearts well out of proportion to their size." –Gertrude S. Wister

OK, I'm a day early. April doesn't begin until tomorrow. But this sweater, fresh and hot off the needles, is done, ready for the blooming of an eagerly anticipated April flower...

The pattern is PT8358 "Baby Cardi with Yoke" by Bendigo Woollen Mills. I used Berroco Ultra Alpace Fine (50% wool, 30% nylon, 20% superfine alpaca, color 1214) for the body, and odd bits of five colors of Dale Baby Ull (100% merino wool) for the flowers.

The full, gathered skirt of this simple and elegant little cardigan all but begged to be embellished with embroidered spring flowers, perfect for a little girl set to make her appearance in April.

I will be so excited to see this sweater in action in the months ahead!
